Resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba

Began learning bellydance in 2001 from local teacher Satori.

First public performances with Satori's local dance troupe "Danse Mirage"

In 2003, joined the long-standing Middle Eastern band and dance ensemble "Desert Caravan"

Now appearing at various Winnipeg venues with Desert Caravan, and as a solo performer at weddings, private functions, and various city events.

Who is Desert Caravan?

Desert Caravan is a Winnipeg based ensemble that has existed in various incarnations for over fifteen years, at present consisting of four belly dancers and a seven-piece live acoustic band. They specialize in traditional Middle Eastern music and can be seen performing at various venues in the Winnipeg area.

Who is Danse Mirage?

Danse Mirage is a Winnipeg based group of women studying Oriental dance. With a focus on spiritualism as well as entertainment, Danse Mirage practises this art as a celebration of our femininity, and as part of a deeper journey. In addition to traditional bellydance, Danse Mirage is also interested in the meditation, mythologies, and dance techniques of various cultures such as Dervish whirling and Nepalese Temple Dance.

With a core group of 10 to 20 women, led by Artistic Director Satori (Brigitte Diop), Danse Mirage performs from a repertoire of choreographies, many with a spiritual side, and often for fundraisers or community events.

Many of our dances were created or inspired by fellow dancer and academic, Shahrazad of Germany.
